dc.description.abstract | In recent years, Radio frequency identification (RFID) technologies are rapidly developing. With RFID technology, inventory can be tracked more accurately so as to reduce the processing time and cutting cost. Therefore, more and more companies are implementing RFID technology into their warehouses. In this project, an innovative design of helix antenna will be introduced for the Active RFID reader. This antenna, with 2.875 turn of pitch angle 7 degree, is wound on a high quality low-loss ceramic, the so called dielectric resonator, with dimension of width 1cm, depth 1cm and height 90 cm DR pieces. Instead of using a common whole DR loaded tube, this innovative antenna achieves cost effectiveness and size reduction as well. Besides, this type of antennas achieve a better performance than a traditional 6 turn helix of pitch angle 12.5 degree and with a size reduction of 80% that can be operated in the radio frequency of 890-965MHz. The half power beam width is around 62 degree. The 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth of the 2.875 turn DR loaded antenna is found to be around 8%. | en_US |
